Program notes:
This piece explores the analogy that life is a tapestry. Life can feel like a confusing mess, a random mixture of highs and lows. What we see, hear, and perceive are tangled threads and randomness. Our human mind can’t comprehend the reason for each thread and its place in the layout. In reality, there is a full design which is perfect and beautiful. To see it, we have to flip the tapestry to the other side.
Tapestry was commissioned in 2022 by the The Patricia Noethe Pierce Distinguished Artist-in-Residence Award through South Dakota State University for Mike Walsh and the Miami Quartet.
Tapestry is dedicated in memory to my Aunt Pam.
