Program Notes

Life is full of surprises—from joys to sorrows, triumphs to trials. In my view, the experience of a trial is like the forging of a sword.  Inspired by sword-making, the music is organized in a continuous movement with three parts—Fire, Hammering, and Quenching.  While a sword is shaped and ultimately strengthened by this process, so too are our souls and characters shaped and strengthened by our sufferings.
